Apple’s iOS 15 Beta Update: What to expect Image

In June of 2021, Apple announced that iOS 15, the latest version of the iOS operating system, would be released in the fall of 2021. Among other things, new features have been introduced for FaceTime calls, privacy features added, a complete redesign for safari, Maps, weather, and more. New tools to reduce distraction have also been added. Let’s get right to it!

Notifications: in the iOS 15 update, notifications can be pooled in order of priority and delivered at an appropriate time as determined by the user. This helps to reduce distractions. Also, contact photos for people can be added now, and there is the choice of larger app icons.

Focus: These new features can filter notifications and apps based on what the user wishes to focus on at a particular time. Using on-device intelligence, iOS will also suggest a Focus for different times such as work-time, bed-time, etc. Users can also create a custom Focus.

Safari: The iOS 15 update features an entirely new design for safari with easier-to-reach controls and a greater focus on webpage content. A compact tab bar is now seen at the bottom of the screen for accessible toggle between tabs. There is now a customizable start page and web extensions.

Maps: The Maps app will offer new 3D city view features with enhanced details, showing pedestrian crosswalks, buildings, bike lanes, etc.

FaceTime calls: A new exciting feature to this in iOS would be voice isolation and spatial audio such that voices would come from where a person is located on the screen. It would also support portrait mode and a new grid view to accommodate more faces at a time. Others include SharePlay and shareable links to a scheduled FaceTime call.

Weather App: The weather app in iOS 15 features more graphical displays of full-screen maps, weather dates, and dynamic layouts.
