Google is working on expanding its network to the European market. The billing system on Play Store has recently got new changes that might be notable for many aspiring developers. Users will be able to meet the expansion in the following months.

The first countries to experience these rules are Indonesia, Japan, India, Australia, and Europe. Before this, Google introduced billing alternatives for developers stationed in the European Economic Area. Moreover, South Korea demanded a change of terms threatening bans and potential fines.

The percentage may vary from region to region. Previously, Google worked with a 3% discount on third-party billing, and now you might apply up to 4% if you are considered an eligible developer. The testing is currently open, so don’t waste time and get onto this route.

In recent statistics, Google declared that 99% of Play Store developers can take 15% or lower fees and that the general part the company asks out of your first $1 million. After that, Google can demand up to 30%. However, don’t get scared – some developers qualify for the Play Media Experience program, where the fees reach only 10%.

Alternatives to the billing system will gradually come out during the year while the company tests how they can work and get settled into the market. Third-party payments will also come out shortly, so users can access multiple payment systems.

Google is not a simple company, so any changes will be carefully calculated before coming to the platform. Play Store content is always monitored to comply with the Terms of Use, and finding any loopholes might get you into trouble, so it is better to follow the general rules.
