The publisher Wizards of the Coast and the Canadian development studio Tuque Games have finally specified a release date for their co-op action RPG Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance. After the announcement in 2019, gamers heard nothing about this project. And recently, it became known that D&D: Dark Alliance will go on sale on June 22 of this year, simultaneously for all major platforms: PC (Steam), PS4/5, Xbox One, and Series X/S. It is not known yet whether a version for macOS will appear.

As the name suggests, the project was inspired by the incredibly popular board game. Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance occurs in Icewind Dale, where frost giants and vengeful dragons rampage. Four players will have to upgrade their character skills, collect powerful weapons, and fight back the monsters. The developers promise that gamers will meet unstoppable bosses and legendary monsters from the board game world and participate in exciting battles in real-time (instead of turn-based fights). The RPG format allows players to look at the usual gameplay from a new angle.

Gamers will be familiar with the main characters from the works of the famous writer Robert Salvatore. In the plot center is the dark elf Drizzt Do'Urden and his three allies Catti-Brie, Bruenor Battlehammer, and Wulfgar, who are opposed by various fantasy creatures. You will have access to both a solo passage and a cooperative mode. Of course, the second option will better convey the atmosphere of the classic board game. At the time of release, this RPG will have 21 missions, which will take an average of about 20 minutes to complete in co-op mode and more than 40 minutes for a single player. Already, the developers promise to keep gamers interested with regular updates and additions. The project will not provide a cross-play option, but the creators do not exclude its introduction in the future.

At the moment, pre-order is available for gamers, according to which you can take a standard or extended version. The basic pack, in addition to the game, includes a set of Beholder weapons (a scimitar, bow, ax, and hammer), while the extended one will offer the Beholder and Lich weapon sets (machetes, a bow, ax, and hammer), as well as the Echoes of the Blood War add-on. The Xbox game will be available immediately for all console versions, while when purchasing an RPG for PlayStation 4, you will need a secret code (issued for free) to upgrade it to use on PS5.
