Facebook Re-Adds Voice & Video Calling to Main App

The tech behemoth is now in the process of re-integrating voice and video calling back into the core mobile application. The social media giant officially removed the tools from the main Facebook mobile app seven years ago, after transferring them into its standalone Messenger app. These days, voice and video tools began showing for a limited number of users as part of a test. Facebook enthusiasts in a selected number of locations (the United States being among them) now get the possibility to voice- and video-call their pals straight from the core mobile application. Since the feature is currently offered on a trial basis, the quantity of voice and video calls you can make via the Facebook app is restricted.
The tech behemoth hasn’t revealed the exact number of people who will participate in the testing or how the whole thing will influence the independent Messenger application in the future. The only thing that Facebook representatives clearly communicate is that the standalone Messenger app should be used for full-scale messaging, which includes audio and video calling. It means that the main connective tool for communication is still Messenger. The company claims that a coordinated messaging framework will make users stay within the Facebook system instead of jumping to alternative (read as to competitor) messengers.
Facebook hasn’t unveiled its plans on bringing back more Messenger features to its main application. But, according to the company’s representatives, some changes will become noticeable very soon. So, how do you like the fact that sometime in the future you will no longer need to launch Facebook Messenger to initiate voice and video calls? Perhaps, you’re one of the lucky devils that got to make use of the brought-back features on a trial basis? Share your thoughts on the issue in the comments box below.
