Final Fantasy 7 Remake: The Technicalities Image

Final Fantasy 7 is back with way sharper visuals than its original version from 1997. But the technical requirements are a bit confusing.

The legendary RPG returns on PC. Dubbed Final Fantasy Intergrade, it can boast of next-generation visuals, smooth charter models, and particle/slow-motion effects that steal the limelight.

So, here are the technical requirements.

Acceptable:

  • Operating system: Windows 10 64 bit (2004 or later).
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-3330/AMD FX-8350.
  • RAM: 8 GB.
  • Free disk space: 100 GB.
  • DirectX: Version 12 or later.
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 780/Radeon RX 480 (3GB VRAM).

Superb:

  • Operating system: Windows 10 64 bit (2004 or later)
  • CPU: IntelCore i7-3770 / AMD Ryzen 3 3100
  • RAM: 12 GB
  • Free disk space: 100 GB
  • DirectX: Version 12 or later
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 1080 Radeon RX 5700 (8GB VRAM)

This remake is classified as “Intergrade” probably because it’s a port of a console remake.

With these requirements, Square Enix guarantees that players will get the 4K resolution, support for compatible controllers like DirectInput, and an incredible frame-per-second rate of 120. (Even though for a human eye, 60 fps is just enough).

Most of the 90s game’s story hasn’t changed. But there are a bunch of new elements. Among them are new side quests known as “Odd Jobs”, new boss fights, and even a choreography mini-game.

The Remake is a true visual explosion compared to the polygonal OG version. The combat feels like a classic Japanese slasher mixed with the canonical Matrix effects and peppered with some gravity-defying mechanics. Which in turn gives it a dynamite-like tempo.

Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade is set to release on December 16. Its price is expected to be $70. Are you excited about the remake? Do you think it’s fair that it costs as much as a console version? Let us know in the comments!
