Final Fantasy games have always been successful, but it seems to be the first time of success the publisher just couldn’t handle, so the sales temporarily stopped. But don’t worry: on January 25, Final Fantasy XIV Online returns to digital stores and can be bought and played. Before that day, Square Enix will fix everything and prepare to meet millions of guests.

Sales suspension is the last thing any publisher wants to do. Still, in December 2021, Square Enix had to, because its servers just couldn’t stand the influx of players after the release of the final expansion, Endwalker. On the official site of the game, it apologizes for the inconvenience and explains the reasons why the sales had to be suspended.

There are currently four versions of the game: Free Trial, Starter Edition, Complete Edition, and Complete Collector's Edition. All of them will become available on January 25. Regardless of the version, everyone who buys it after the return will also receive additional two weeks of subscription, no matter if they had it or not. A similar step was taken earlier in December when after the launch of Endwalker, servers were overloaded just as well. As compensation for the inconveniences, all the players received a week of free game pass.

Endwalker is released as the final chapter of the Final Fantasy XIV saga that lasts since 2011. New players start from the beginning and walk through the entire story to see all the locations and main quests before it. In the end, though, they will play the newest part of it, awaited by millions of players in the world. Given that the player base becomes even larger, updates may appear even after Endwalker; for example, new side quests, new visuals, and balance tweaks.

Have you ever played Final Fantasy XIV? Do you think it keeps up with the offline installments? How far have you gone in it? And how did you survive the suspension? Let’s finally fantasize in the comments!
