New $3.99/Month Snapchat Subscription Available for Purchase in the US Image

Last Wednesday, Snapchat took a big step towards advertising-first revenue with a new Snapchat+ subscription option that will cost users $3.99 a month. Snap already advertised an upcoming free trial subscription earlier this month. And here is the long-awaited release. Now it's available to residents of the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom.

This decision was forced due to the fact that the external economic situation adversely affects the income of many companies. So, in the upcoming quarterly earnings report, Snap is expected to see a decline in profits, so the company was forced to slow down the hiring of employees and conduct a review of its expenses. This state of affairs has affected the value of Snapchat's shares, which have fallen in price by 40%.

Users who decide to purchase this subscription will receive a number of nice bonuses and benefits in the application. They will be able to see a list of who has watched their stories, change the app icon, and pin anyone in their chat history with a "BFF" tag. However, according to Jacob Andreou, Snap's SVP of products, this is just a starter kit that will continue to expand.

Snapchat's latest update brings not only a new paid subscription with exclusive features but also a number of free public updates. The function of shared stories looks quite promising and useful. Also, the partnership with ShareChat's Moj has paid off as Snapchat's AR technology is now part of the MX TakaTak app.

Do you find that the Snapchat+ subscription is worth buying? What features should be added to it in the future? Please share your thoughts with others in the comments below.
