Short Videos Come to Slack
24 Sep 2021
The most popular corporate chatty app Slack will add a Clips feature. But only for the paying customers.
Clips is the latest addition to the popular office space messaging app. It will allow employees to record both audio and video clips. When the recording’s over, a clip can be shared with colleagues, clients, or bosses via chat.
Clips are a long-desired feature. For one thing, it will take coordination between groups of employees to another level. Especially if they live in different time zones.
It will allow creating commentaries, notes, explanations, tasks, and even motivational speeches. And the best part is that they can be delivered without extra meetings and briefings.
Video and audio clips can be viewed directly in a group channel. Or in the private messages. Plus, employees can illustrate their answers in the group thread with a clip or two.
These messages can be up to 3-minutes-long. Apart from recording yourself, you can also resort to screen recording if your task requires explaining some technical intricacies.
Another clever know-how is that Clips can be enhanced with subtitles. Or recipients can check their summary via an automatically generated transcript.
For more convenience, Clips will be stored and archived within the app. If necessary, you can search them up later. Besides, a concept dubbed SlackConnect is in the workshop at the moment.
This function will allow companies to invite their clientele to the Slack channel. They’ll also be able to share their clips with them, without making the customers get a premium version of the app.
With the Clips feature, the collaboration will be a breeze, it seems. What do you think about Slack in general? Is there any worthy and cheaper alternative to it? Share your opinion in the comments section!
