TikTok’s Advertisement Revenue Might Triple in 2022
18 Apr 2022
TikTok’s revenue from ads is projected to triple in 2022 from $3.5 billion to $11 billion, allowing it to surpass Twitter and Snapchat combined!
Currently, TikTok is one of the world’s largest social media apps that are regularly used by over 1 billion active users. During the past couple of years, TikTok’s popularity has exploded with people spending an extraordinary amount of time using this app.
According to Insider Intelligence which has posted this data about TikTok, its biggest rivals are Twitter and Snapchat. However, they are expected to generate only $5,6 billion and $4,9 billion respectively. Thus, it seems that TikTok might generate more profits than the profits of Twitter and Snapchat put together.
Almost half of that enormous revenue is expected to come from the US, even though many people are still concerned that user data is sent to China.
Unfortunately, due to TikTok’s extremely large user base and almost nonexistent moderation, it is reported that TikTok is being used to spread misinformation regarding Ukraine. Misleading content, live streams, and fake videos are constantly being shared using this app and gaining millions of views. To combat this, TikTok has agreed to form a partnership with content checkers, which might reduce the spread of false information.
Overall, the spread of false information regarding the war in Ukraine has been the bread and butter of the Russian federation. Of course, not all of the information shared by European news outlets can be trusted 100% with some numbers being exaggerated, but Russia seems intent on creating a completely false worldview for its population.
Thankfully, not all Russians are affected by their propaganda, but the number of people who can resist such an informational onslaught is very small.
