NFTs have made a name for themselves over the last few months, and a new marketplace for them, Fractal, has gotten involved in quite a big scandal. This platform is a creation of Twitch’s co-founder Justin Kan, and it is supposed to be a storage for any interesting and exclusive digital asset. The developer was eager to engage with the crypto-selling community, so Fractal’s popularity was a matter of time.

The attack has happened on Fractal’s dedicated Discord channel. The hacker changed the local bot’s code to post a link that led to the NFT market. However, it was a scam to get access to the wallets of the users, who clicked the link, so the program could steal all of their digital money. A lot of people fell for it, as the process seemed similar to the acquiring of digital assets.

The channel has been up since early December and counts around 100,000 followers, who might’ve suffered the consequences of the attack. The growing demand for NFTs can lead to more of such news, and there will always be the ones who can benefit from it. This hacker got away with 862 Solana tokens, and it estimated in around $150,000 loss. The moderators from now on will keep an eye out for any intruders on the servers, and the security of the channel will have to be revised.

Of course, there will be complaints about the damage taken by the users. Nevertheless, this event also shows a lot of people that you need to be thoughtful in trusting any out-source links on the existing channels. The NFTs market will continue to grow, and new measures are surely going to be applied to protect the community from such attacks.

Do you think more of these attacks will happen? How can the companies protect their users from such losses? Share your ideas in the comments below.
