What do you do more often on WhatsApp: text or exchange voice messages? Sending audios is extremely popular on this messenger, and may become even more of that, as now WhatsApp offers a new set of tools for it. Small improvements combine and create a new level of comfort for those into voice messaging.

As you listen to a message, you can now browse through other chats, type your replies, or read the history. The player will stay at the top of the screen, and you will be able to stop the playback and to resume it whenever you like. Or even quit WhatsApp and then, on your return, resume from where you stopped. These are the most important improvements for listeners.

One of the most important updates on creating voice messages is the possibility to pause and resume recording. It’s hard to overrate this possibility if you, say, get lost for words at some moment and don’t want this awkward pause to be heard. Or if something loud, like a train or a motorcycle, is passing by you with noise. Afterwards, you’ll be able to review it before sending and, if you don’t like it, delete and record anew.

Review is quite a literal word, because you can now see voice messages as well. They are visualized as a waveform, so you can see whether there are long pauses or too loud noisy fragments – whatever you’d like to avoid. With this tool, it’s easier to rate a message if it’s yours, or overview it quickly if it’s sent to you and not get confused at a long pause: you see when it ends.

Another great improvement is the ability to listen to the messages at the double speed even if they are forwarded to you. Previously, you could shorten the listening time only if you were the direct recipient of it. Now, forwarded messages can be sped up too.

What do you think about these new features? Will they make voice messaging better for you? And if you have been dismissing this possibility, will you give it a chance now? Welcome to the comments, and tell us what you think about it!
