Graphics 8.5/10
FarmVille 3: Animals on Android and IOS follows the canons set by the classic sim. Here we have a sun-lit, friendly world inhabited with all sorts of cartoony, 3D critters.
It’s an epitome of a casual game, as the FarmVille’s world will remind you of a giant, virtual petting zoo, where you will stumble into AI-driven sheep and cows permanently.
Apart from the fluffy, furry, and scaly guys who roam to and fro, giving your household the sense of life, there’s also a good deal of nice decorations. They add an extra ambiance to the game.
Plus, windmills, fountains, and chicken houses bring a large spoon to the game’s dynamics. They are put in perpetual motion, making you feel like you are having a busy day on a busy plantation/pasture.
FarmVille 3: Animals mobile also has the iconic soundtrack with clean electric guitars, banjos, and crispy percussion that traveled straight from Iowa or Ohio to bring that “McDonald’s old farm” vibe.
Controls 8/10
Tapping and sliding are your primary moves. Slide your finger to harvest the crops, or tap the screen to re-paint the barn/sell eggs — these are the main mechanics here. But sometimes the game goes laggy, and it takes a few seconds for it to respond to your taps.
Gameplay 6.5/10
For those who wonder, yes — this is almost like FarmVille on PC. You start out at a small farm and your goal is to turn it into a lush agricultural business.
This requires planting/collecting crops, breeding chicken, selling milk on the market, and unlocking new animal breeds.
Brace yourself: it’s a busy sim. While you need to take care of your alpacas, there also will be sunflowers to reap, a new cow house to build to step up your dairy game, packages of Tibetan yak wool to ship, and so on.
Unlocking new animals is one of the key elements in the game. The more boyos live at your farm, the bigger your level gets. In turn, this allows you to expand your estate and make tastier profits.
There’s a caboodle of exotic animals: Fennec Fox, Bourbon Turkey, and even the Alligator Snapping Turtle who can do some breakdance moves.
You can also do an extra hustle and make money from the bakery. Thankfully, locals yearn for your loaves, carrot cakes, and paellas.
But a major nuisance, of course, is the energy barrier. When you advance, it will demand hours of your time to do simple jobs: whacking out weeds, removing junk and rocks, and so on. And the only remedy is to pay real money.
Conclusion
FarmVille 3 on iOS and Android is a fun sim. It has the good-ole spirit of the original series and cheerful, big-eyed cows to keep you company on a long, lonely night.
At the same time, some activities can be painstakingly long here, unless you shell out $20 or so. But if you’re nostalgic for the countryside antics and strong-voiced roosters — download FarmVille 3: Animals.
