New Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City Offers Another Twist on the Classic Image

The Resident Evil franchise has a long history that includes both games and series. This time, the project was revived once again thanks to the director Johannes Roberts and his team. Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City is an action horror film with plenty of jump-scare moments that offers another take on the franchise.

The duration of this film is 107 minutes and it takes you on a journey that combines characters and plots from both Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2. According to Johanne Roberts, the intention behind this project was to create the purest and most accurate adaptation. It seems that this new film is extremely fan-focused, which is one of the best things about it. While watching this movie, fans of Resident Evil would be happy to get different references and notice plenty of Easter eggs carefully hidden right in front of their eyes.

When it comes to characters, it’s obvious that the casting team wasn’t looking for people to look exactly like those we saw in the games. However, the attention to detail is still there and noticeable in costumes. For instance, Claire Redfield’s famous red jacket is very much present in the film. Those who like the franchise will surely enjoy watching well-known scenes come to life in the movie, as it’s always fun seeing how such moments are adapted from one media to another.

In terms of creepiness, the creators decided to turn the volume to the max, especially in the first half an hour of the film, and included strange creatures, scary dolls, and anything else they could think of. While the movie progresses into action quite quickly after that, it still maintains the signature spooky atmosphere of Resident Evil. One of the most unrealistic things about the film is the general calmness of characters that find themselves in the scariest situations.

Have you watched the film? What are your thoughts on this adaptation? Please, tell us what you think in the comments below!
